Centro Campesino Programs

Centro Campesino has always believed on the importance of creating new leaders for the movement of social justice. Centro Campesino's Youth Organizing is an organizing campaign involving youth from Junior High and High school from different towns in rural Minnesota. They get together to organize and learn about issues related to social justice and education.

As a result of their effort and work, we have decided to create these summer internships in order to empower Latino students and help them develop their leadership skills.

Summer Internships:

It seems like the chances of having a comprehensive immigration bill approved by congress this year are small. Much of the efforts in the next months will be concentrated in pushing stand-alone bills such as the DREAM ACT and AgJobs.

In 2008 members of our different youth organizing committees in Owatonna, Waseca and Northfield started to meet to discuss and plan the formation of a larger youth-led structure in southern Minnesota. Our young leaders have been meeting regularly to plan this structure that would serve as the organizational body to mobilize and unite Latino youth. This structure has been named Now! Youth Network.
