Youth Organizing
Centro Campesino has always believed on the importance of creating new leaders for the movement of social justice and it is because of that that we have decided to lunch a new campaign on youth organizing. Centro Campesino's youth organizers will start a program this year where 20-30 Junior High and High school students from different towns will receive weekly training on Community organizing and Direct Action.
The training will count with a curriculum culturally appropriate and youth focused that will emphasizes on the skills an effective community organizer needs to have in order to succeed in the public arena. The youth organizers apprentices will receive a 10-month weekly training and during the summer five internships will be awarded for those who would like to continue learning and practicing their skills.
This campaign will definitely build and produce the leaders the organization and the community needs in order to keep our movement alive. Youth have the power to change the world and by acquiring the skills they need, their path to power will be on the way.
