Workers On Strike Reach Agreement with Ronnel Management Services!!!
Dear Members and Allies,
On August 24, 2010, members of Centro Campesino went on strike against the Ronnel Management Services, housed within the Jenny O Turkey Store in Faribault, Minnesota. They were tired of the harassment and mistreatment by the manager and of the lack of a grievance process. Organizers of Centro Campesino, with the assistance of the workers on strike, immediately conducted an analysis of the situation.
Centro Campesino opened its first Worker Center in St. Peter, Minnesota
Centro Campesino is glad to announce the opening of its first Worker Center. As part of our strategic plan, Centro Campesino will work to expand its membership and geographic presence in rural Minnesota by establishing a worker center network. This network will be comprised of three workers’ centers to be open in strategic locations across southern Minnesota. Our goal is to provide a space for immigrant workers to find assistance, education, and support as they confront labor and immigrant rights abuses. This center will also increase our capacity to organize immigrant workers as we identify issues and develop campaigns around those issues.
