`New Citizen-New Voter" Initiative
Centro Campesino has successfully been certified by the Department of Homeland Security as a Board of Immigration Appeals approved cite. This means we can now help our members fill out Immigration applications. Our goal is to increase the number of Latino residents becoming U.S. citizens and consequently new voters. This certification will allow us to help our members with the application process. This year we will be implementing our “new citizen-new voter initiative” by identifying Latino residents ready to apply for their citizenship.
New Leaders~ 11/13/2010
As part of our efforts to sustain a community lead movement for social change, we have created our first community organizing training academy. We developed a curriculum that teaches our community leaders about community organizing and leadership skills. These leaders then become part of our members’ task forces and committees and they organize community members around local issues in their communities.
