We are working on the state and national level for immigration policy reform. We seek an immigration reform that would grant relief to millions of men, women that work very hard to have a better future for their families.

Centro Campesino is working with members of the National Coalition for Dignity and Residency to push for new legislation in Congress designed to protect undocumented workers' basic civil rights and reduce harassment and the fear of deportation. We encourage bills that include basic principles stated by immigrants and immigrant's supporters:

  • Family reunification
  • Roads to permanent residency and citizenship
  • Civil rights
  • Human rights
  • Labor rights
  • Respect and Dignity

America has always been a nation of immigrants, a haven for those escaping poverty and violence in their countries of origin. Immigrants who come to this country to work hard and rebuild their lives deserve the chance to earn their way to permanent residency. Centro Campesino believes on working towards a reasonable and just immigration policy.

Centro Campesino Immigration camping focuses on several areas that promote the civic participation of our members and the acquiring of knowledge and skills needed to effectively affect public policy. We emphasize on the following areas:

  • Lobbying public officials to promote a fair and just immigration reform
  • Conduct workshops on immigrant rights and public policy with our members around southern Minnesota
  • Provide our members with free interviews with allied immigration lawyers
  • Refer our members and the community with trusted professionals on immigration law and services
  • Provide free tax preparation services to people that have an ITIN number and want to get on track with their tax declarations
  • Assist people that do not have access to a social security number to get their ITIN number to file their tax returns
  • Assist people with forms and information from the USCIS
  • Promote the acceptance of the Matricula Consular as a valid identification in southern Minnesota towns
  • Promote the separation of INS and Police force to ensure the participation ans safety of all members of the community without having to be afraid on calling the police
  • Develop leaders in the different communities to facilitate the flow of information and the organization of actions and campaigns
